Aromatics and Broth

  • 1 small shallot, finely minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme

Creamy Sauce

  • 1/3 cup heavy cream For the creamy texture

Preparation

  • Season the chicken thighs with kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.

Searing the Chicken

  • In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat and add the chicken thighs, skin-side down. Sear until the skin is crispy and golden brown.

Making the Sauce

  • Once browned, flip the chicken and add butter, minced shallot, and garlic. Sauté until fragrant.
  • Pour in chicken broth and lemon juice, scraping up browned bits. Add thyme and let simmer.
  • Stir in heavy cream and optional crushed red pepper flakes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.

Finishing Touches

  • Check doneness, adjust seasoning, and remove thyme before serving. Plate the chicken and spoon creamy sauce on top, garnishing with fresh parsley.

Notes

For a richer flavor, rub spices under the chicken skin. Be careful with the sauce's heat to avoid curdling. Leftovers can be shredded for salads or wraps.
