For the Chicken

For the Sauce

  • 2 cups chicken broth base for cooking
  • 1 cup heavy cream creates creaminess
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme adds herbal notes
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley provides freshness
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper to season
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water to thicken, if needed

For Cooking Rice

  • 1 1/2 cups long-grain white rice absorbs flavors and adds heartiness
  • 3 cups water or chicken broth to cook rice

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Season the chicken thighs or breasts with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat until hot.
  • Add the seasoned chicken to the skillet, cooking until golden brown on both sides, about 5–7 minutes per side.
  • Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, cook the diced onion until soft and translucent, about 3–4 minutes.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, stirring frequently.

Cooking

  • Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring to combine.
  • Add dried thyme, dried parsley, and adjust seasoning as needed.
  • Return the chicken to the skillet, simmer until cooked through.
  • Rinse the long-grain white rice under cold water until clear.
  • In a separate pot, boil 3 cups of water or broth, add rinsed rice, reduce heat, cover, and cook per package instructions, about 15-20 minutes.
  • If desired, thicken the sauce with cornstarch slurry.
  • Fluff the rice and serve topped with the creamy chicken and sauce.

Notes

Best served immediately, can be stored and reheated. Pair with a simple side salad for balance.
