  • 15 ounces can tomato sauce
  • 1 bunch cilantro (chopped)
  • 1 piece lime, juiced

Spices

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder Adjust to taste for spiciness
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by placing the three boneless skinless chicken breasts into your crock pot, laying them flat for even cooking.
  • Sprinkle a tablespoon of chili powder, a tablespoon of cumin, half a teaspoon of garlic salt, half a teaspoon of salt, and half a teaspoon of pepper over the chicken.
  • Add the chopped cilantro on top of the spices.
  • Pour the 15-ounce can of tomato sauce over the contents in the crock pot.

Cooking

  • Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or high for 3 to 4 hours, until the chicken shreds easily.
  • Once done, carefully shred the chicken using a fork or tongs and stir it back into the sauce in the crock pot.

Notes

For a bit of extra zing, consider adding extra lime juice before serving. If you prefer it spicier, increase the amount of chili powder. Pair it with avocado or sour cream to complement the flavors. Ensure chicken is submerged in sauce for even cooking.
