  • 1.5 lbs flank or sirloin steak Tender cuts for easy chewing

  • 2 tbsp lime juice For acidity
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced For aromatic flavor

For the Bowl

  • 4 cups cooked rice or quinoa Base for texture
  • 1 cup corn salsa For sweetness and crunch
  • 1 cup black beans, rinsed and drained Provides creaminess and protein
  • 1 avocado, sliced or diced Adds creaminess
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved For freshness

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, combine olive oil, soy sauce, lime juice, minced garlic, cumin, and chili powder. Whisk them together to create a smooth marinade.
  • Place the steak in a shallow dish or a zip-top bag. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes at room temperature.

Cooking the Steak

  • Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated steak to the pan and cook for 4-6 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
  • Once cooked, transfer the steak to a cutting board and allow it to rest for 10 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.

Assembling the Bowl

  • Divide the cooked rice or quinoa among four bowls. Layer the sliced steak on top, followed by corn salsa, black beans, avocado, and cherry tomatoes. Mix the elements in the bowl just before serving.

Notes

For best results, marinate the steak longer than 15 minutes. Customize your bowl with seasonal veggies or different toppings. Allow steak to rest to enhance juiciness.
