Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 500 g 500g / 1 lb chicken breast, boneless and skinless
  • 1 tsp Salt and pepper To taste
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup flour
  • 3 1/2 tbsp 3 1/2 tbsp unsalted butter (or 2 1/2 tbsp olive oil)
  • 2 cloves 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/2 tbsp 1 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar (or white vinegar)
  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp soy sauce, light or all-purpose
  • 1/3 cup 1/3 cup honey (or maple syrup)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Cut the chicken breasts in half horizontally to create four steaks. Season each side with salt and pepper.
  • Place the flour in a shallow dish and coat each piece of chicken, shaking off the excess.

Cooking

  • Melt most of the butter in a skillet over high heat, reserving about 1 teaspoon for later.
  • Cook the flour-coated chicken in the skillet for a few minutes until golden brown. Flip and cook the other side for another minute.
  • Reduce the heat to medium-high, move the chicken to make space for the garlic, and add the reserved butter along with minced garlic.
  • Pour in the vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Stir and bring to a simmer until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Turn the chicken in the sauce to coat well. Add a splash of water if the sauce is too thick.
  • Remove from heat and drizzle any remaining sauce over the chicken before serving.

Notes

For the best results, ensure the skillet is hot enough before cooking the chicken. Let the chicken rest after cooking to retain moisture.
