Ingredients
  

For the stir fry

  • 2 tablespoons oil, divided Any cooking oil such as vegetable or canola
  • 2 cups broccoli Cut into florets
  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic creates the best flavor
  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce Adjust according to taste for saltiness
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup honey Adds sweetness to the dish
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil For additional flavor
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch Used for thickening the sauce
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • for garnish sesame seeds Optional

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli and sauté until tender and caramelized, about 4 to 5 minutes. Remove the broccoli and set aside.
  • Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the skillet. Cook the chicken pieces in two batches until golden brown. Then, add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute without burning it.
  • In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, water, honey, and sesame oil until smooth. Pour the sauce over the cooked chicken, along with the broccoli.
  • Mix cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of cold water to create a slurry. Whisk the slurry into the sauce and let it simmer until thickened, about 1 to 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste and garnish with sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Prepping ingredients beforehand will make cooking smoother. Use low sodium soy sauce to control saltiness. Taste and adjust flavors to preferences.
