Sauces and Seasonings

  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar Adds acidity.
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce Salty and savory.
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce Sweet and complex flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Adds nutty flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger Provides warm undertone.
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha Optional heat.
  • 1/2 unit chile pepper, sliced Optional for extra spice.

Instructions
 

Cooking Chicken

  • Heat your skillet over medium heat until warm. Add the ground chicken and break it apart while it cooks, ensuring no large clumps remain.
  • Cook until the chicken is no longer pink and starts to brown before adding the other ingredients.

Add Vegetables

  • Once the chicken is mostly cooked, add the diced red onion and minced garlic. Stir until the onions become tender and translucent.

Incorporate Peas

  • Toss in the sugar snap peas and cook for a few more minutes while stirring occasionally.

Flavor the Dish

  • Add the rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, and hoisin sauce. Mix well and continue cooking until heated through.

Finish with Seasonings

  • Incorporate sesame oil, ground ginger, and sriracha, if using. Stir and let come together for a minute.

Serve

  • If using, stir in the sliced chile pepper just before serving.
  • Serve the sesame ground chicken over steamed jasmine rice or quinoa.

Notes

Add sliced bell peppers or carrots for more color. Avoid high sodium sauces, use a non-stick skillet for cleanup ease.
